Taxis are available in the Vail Valley but check the price beforehand as taxi prices are much more expensive in the mountains. Taxis can be called in advanced by a hotel or restaurant staff if you are in a hurry or you can usually find them parked at the Transportation Center in LionsHead.
Taxi services in and around the Vail Valley are an excellent way to get from point A to point B easily and quickly. There are several outfits that operate locally, all with friendly, knowledgeable drivers and excellent service. Most offer service throughout the Valley, but call ahead if you are planning a long-distance trek, or if you plan to travel outside Eagle County. If you know when you plan to travel, take the time to call ahead. Busy windows may mean there will be a wait, so don’t call 5 minutes before your reservation and expect an immediate pickup. If you have a large party, be sure to specify that when you call. Some local vendors have large capacity vehicles (such as mini-vans or hummers), but be sure you’ve indicated how many are in your party so they can send the appropriate size/numbers of vehicles to get everyone to the destination. Most cab services run 24 hours, but be aware that they may have reduced staff at late-night times. Also be prepared for a wait around the time that the bars close at 2am – Vail is a town full of revelers, and the cab line at that hour can mean a bit of a wait. But it’s all worthwhile to get you and your party home safely.
