Historic Glenwood Springs Bike Tour

The Hot Springs Pool is not the only historic landmark in Glenwood Springs, take this bike ride to see and learn more about the areas past!

Ride your bike through historic Glenwood Springs, circa 1883. Following the provided map, you will see the city as it was in the early days. Visit the Frontier Historical Museum, dine at a local establishment for lunch, and take the short hike up to Lynwood Cemetery and pay your last respects to Glenwood's favorite gunslinger, Doc Holliday.

Enjoy the pedestrian and bicycle bridge that spans the Colorado River and overlooks the Hot Springs Pool. Leisurely plan a bicycle route through the back streets of Glenwood Springs and finally into the downtown area. Compare the photos of what was"¦and what is today! Imagine a town with miners, gamblers, gunslingers, hotels, shops and saloons. The majestic Hotel Glenwood was a grand hotel at the corner of 8th and Grand Ave in 1884. The hotel burned down in December, 1945. The First Presbyterian Church was built in 1885 on Cooper Ave and is still being used today. In 1890 the Stone Bathhouse at the Hot Springs Pool was completed.

Take a historic ride through the streets of Glenwood Springs with map in hand. Compare the photos of what was"¦and what is today! Many of the buildings erected in the late 1800's are still in use. Just imagine an old west town busy with miners, gamblers, gunslingers and saloons. If you have more time, we recommend the Historic Glenwood Springs Package. Frontier Historical Society logo Begin at Canyon Bikes head east on 6th street to see the Glenwood Light & Power Building, as well as the Stone Bathhouse at the Hot Springs Pool. Then, walk your bike across the pedestrian and bicycle bridge into downtown Glenwood Springs. From here, make a plan on what you want to see next, when you'll want to stop for lunch at a local café, what is the best time to visit the Frontier Historical museum and finally when to begin your hike to historic Pioneer Cemetery. Some of our back streets have bicycle lanes painted directly on city streets. This package includes a full day bike rental, biking tour map w/pictures, plus Frontier Historical Museum admission.
