Vail Dog sledding/Dog carting

Experience first-hand this ancient form of arctic transportation. Drive your own team of dogs as you experience the fine art of mushing or just relax and enjoy the scenery as a passenger. This is a truly unforgettable experience and a treat for the whole family.

Dogsledding is both educational and great fun for adults and kids alike. It is the perfect way to experience the power and grace of these very special animals. Experience being whisked across snowy meadows and onto a forest trail on a winter's day by the power of friendly canine athletes.

Dogsledding is one of the most ancient and cultured means of transportation in snow-bound conditions. Dog sleds have been used for hunting and travel as long ago as the 10th century. A guide stands on the back of the sled, controlling the "team" and the direction of the sled. However, many vendors will allow the passenger(s) to try their hand at "driving" if interested. This is a wonderful way to enjoy the beautiful winter landscape, free of the noise and exhaust pollution found on motorized tours. It is also an ideal tour if you are not as adventurous or physically committed to other mountain adventures you can just sit back and let these amazing creatures do all the hard work. Depending on your tour, warm beverages and blankets are provided, but dress for the conditions as it is an outdoor excursion.
